I try not to do pieces that hold a lot of sentiment because that’s the quickest route to getting horribly discouraged. However, this painting might be one of the most personal pieces I’ve ever produced.
This is a view from the top of Arthur’s Seat, looking over Edinburgh. I took the picture when I visited Scotland when I studied abroad. It was by far my favorite trip of the semester. I was lucky enough to share the experience with one of the best friends I’ve ever had; as a result, it was her Christmas present this year.
The assignment was to do an expressionist style painting, and this particular scene fit well because it was so windy, nothing was ever still.
